Sycamore

Set along Sycamore Avenue, one of Los Angeles’ most dynamic emerging neighborhoods, this commercial core and shell building is conceived as a modern contribution to the city’s evolving urban fabric. Drawing from the timeless character of classic brick retail architecture and the neighborhood’s industrial past, the design establishes a sense of permanence and identity while remaining adaptable to modern use.

At street level, the building fosters an active pedestrian experience. Expansive display windows provide transparency and visibility, allowing retailers and restaurants to showcase their interiors while enlivening the public realm. Distinct storefronts for each tenant create individuality and variety within a cohesive architectural language.

Flexibility is central to the project’s vision. Open floor plates, generous ceiling heights, and modular service cores allow the building to accommodate a wide spectrum of tenants — from boutique retail to creative studios, dining establishments, or collaborative workspaces. This adaptability ensures long-term relevance as the neighborhood continues to grow and evolve.
